Attempted Suicides – Suicide Rate New Orleans
It is estimated that there are more than twenty-five times as many attempted suicides as there are completed suicides, and for every person who dies by suicide four people make attempts on their life. However, although previous suicide attempts do not lead to subsequent suicides in more than nine out of ten cases but still remain risk factors for later self-killing activities.
It has been estimated that each death by suicide affects another hundred thirty-five persons directly exposed while over six individuals will suffer major disruptions due to such an event happening around them. Those who experience disruption following exposure are at increased risks themselves too – they may become suicidal ideators or even go ahead with plans towards actualizing their thoughts into actions thus becoming what we know now as Suicide Attempters.
Deaths
Many deaths caused by self-inflicted harm could be prevented if needful measures were taken into consideration early enough before it becomes too late. The Office of Behavioral Health (OBH), which falls under the purview of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (LADHH), does everything possible to minimize all kinds of fatalities related to taking one’s life while promoting interventions targeting individuals deemed susceptible towards committing suicide across different age groups within our population. The OBH also urges citizens living in Louisiana State to always remain vigilant for signs indicative of emotional distress among those going through difficult moments in their lives even as part of this office’s mission on suicide prevention programs.
